Since its inception in 2011, the SAARC film festival has been continuing in Sri Lanka to date by growing its popularity through every aspect of cinema to reach our community. Over the time the festival has become more prominent and popular in the region restoring major attention in the mass community. The 9^th Edition of the SAARC Film Festival was held in grandeur at the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka receiving substantial response from the audience and participants from SAARC Member States. The festival witnessed the screening of 15 Feature Films, 13 Short Films and 6 Master films along with an exclusive Master class Workshop curated by a prominent panel.

 

In 2021, SAARC Cultural Centre will be organizing and celebrating the 10^th SAARC Film Festival with the motive of reaching to and appealing the community of this unknown origin, and to heal the mind and soul of humans of every corner of the world through the medium of cinema, where they can watch, view, and re-view it with the help of novel technological devices and platforms, taking advantage of its role in defining today’s cinema and cinematography. The SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo being the organizing body is looking forward to make this programme a success by all means and is committed towards encouraging new cinema through this international festival experience.
