The sixth session of the SAARC Talk Series 2024 (Virtual Mode) was held on (Wednesday), 10th July 2024, 3:00 pm (Sri Lanka Standard Time) at the SAARC Cultural Centre (SCC), Sri Lanka.
The speaker of the sixth session of the SAARC Talk Series 2024 was Amish Raj Mulmi, a writer from Nepal. Amish is the author of All Roads Lead North: Nepal’s Turn to China. He is a visiting fellow at the Centre for Social Innovation and Foreign Policy and consulting editor at Writer’s Side Literary Agency.
Amish discussed Nepal’s Ramayan and Mahabharat traditions, traversing the country from the plains to the Kathmandu valley, and breaking down the diversity in belief and practice that makes South Asia a vibrant and inclusive cultural space. Amish stressed the rich diversity of such traditions, a testament to how South Asia interprets these canonical texts in their own beliefs.
