South Asia, a region rich and diversified in culture witnesses an increasing trend in the contribution of women to the society. By doing so, women have made themselves prominent and become a transformative and promising force driving towards the success in many sectors of the region. Culture isn’t an exception from others as it is obviously accommodated by women workforce.
SAARC Cultural Centre, being the regional and the central partner for cultural development, has been in forefront acknowledging the exceptional contribution of women in its long breath evolution. In 2019, a cultural programme was organized at the Lionel Edirisinghe Auditorium of the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka by inviting and recognizing three key women personal from the fields of Education, Film Industry and Administration. The programme received substantial attention from the public and appreciation for the initiative taken in this regard.
