Inaugural Speech of the Director at the International Web Symposium

Director, SAARC Cultural Centre, Ms Renuka Ekanayake delivered the inaugural speech for the International Web-Symposium on 100 Years (1923-2023) of Radio Broadcasting in South Asia: Democratization of Airwaves on Friday, 29 December 2023 organized by Dr. Anamika Ray Memorial Trust.

In her speech, Ms Ekanayake emphasized the importance of Radio not only as a medium for information dissemination but also stressed its role in shaping societies and connecting people across borders. She further accentuated how the democratization of airwaves has empowered diverse voices, fostering cultural exchanges and understating among nations. The symposium was attended by several experts across South Asia.
