The second online forum on ‘Remembering 20th Century South Asian Women in Culture’organised by the SAARC Cultural Centre was held on (Wednesday), 21st May 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Sri Lanka Standard Time). Featuring distinguished speakers from India -Prof. Swati Ganguly, Pakistan -Moneeza Hashmi, Bhutan-Dr. Sonam Choden, Maldives- Mariyam Isha Azeez, and Sri Lanka-Dr. Darshi Thoradeniya, the forum sought to recognize the contributions of five remarkable women across South Asia who helped shape the region’s cultural and intellectual landscape. Iconic women figures discussed in the event were Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan (1928-2020), Bano Qudsia (1928-2017), Gyalyum Phuntsho Choden Wangchuk (1911-2003), Al-Nabeela Aminath Hussein (1917-1990), and Sivagami Verina Obeyesekere (1929-2017).
