SAARC Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Faculty of Dance and Drama, University of the Visual and Performing Arts organized SAARC Cultural Celebration on 12th June 2023, 3:00 pm onwards at Panibharata Theatre. Dr Chandani Kasturi Arachchi and her dancing troupe from India and the Bhutanese students studying in Colombo presented multicultural performances showcasing the rich cultural dance of the SAARC Region through their breath-taking performances and left the audience in awe.
The event was attended by the representatives of the High Commissions of Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Pakistan, and the special invitees were Assistant Director, SAARC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director, Iranian Cultural Centre. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Renuka Ekanayake, Director SAARC Cultural Centre, keynote address was given by Senior Professor Rohana P. Mahaliyanaarachchi, Vice Chancellor, University of Visual and Performing Arts and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Bina Gandhi Deori, Deputy Director-Research, SAARC Cultural Centre. During the event, certificates were also presented to all the participants.
