SAARC Special Lecture on Archaeology
SAARC Cultural Centre (SCC) in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology organized a lecture on Monday, 26th June at 2 pm onwards by Prof. (Dr.) Anand Singh at the Department of Archaeology, Sir Marcus Fernando, Mawatha, Colombo.
Prof. Singh is affiliated with the Department of History, Babasaheb Ambedkar University, Lucknow, India. The lecture was attended by Prof. Ankuran Dutta, Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Mrs. Navya Singla, Second Secretary (DC &PIC), High Commission of India, Colombo, Ms Pradeepa Serasingha, Director-General of Archaeology, invited guests, students and staff of SAARC Cultural Centre as well as the Department of Archaeology. The session started with the welcome address by Ms. Renuka Ekanayake, Director-Research, SCC followed by a speech by Ms Pradeepa Serasingha, DG Archaeology, Colombo.
Dr. Bina Gandhi Deori, Deputy Director-Research, SCC introduced the speaker to the audience. This was followed by presentation of memento to the speaker by the Director, SCC.
The Speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Anand Singh spoke on the topic Water Management in Early Buddhist Monastics: Archaeological Landscape in Middle Gangetic Plain, India. After the presentation, there were interesting queries from the audience. The session concluded by the vote of thanks delivered by Arct. Deepal Wijethilake, Director, (Promotions), Department of Archaeology.
